BigOceanData – a company with a proven pedigree
Our origins go back to 1995 when Racal Defence Group (now part of Thales Group) created a subsidiary called BlueFinger to develop specialist tracking technology for the commercial fisheries industry. The company became one of the pioneers of combining Inmarsat C communications and GPS to track ships operating on the high seas. From there the business expanded into providing asset tracking and management systems to a range of other industries as new technologies including AIS became widely available. As a leader in telemetry, tracking and positioning solutions, the company formed relationships with clients that include DEFRA, Heathrow Airport, British Aerospace and the Government of Kuwait.
In 2013 the senior managers of BlueFinger acquired the assets and business of the company from the then owner Masternaut and renamed it Globavista Ltd. Globavista continues to develop the technology and intellectual assets including its precise positioning hardware, TracsTDMA, and its trademark multi-platform proprietary asset monitoring software, Globavista (formerly Saffire). Its most recent product launch is Big Ocean Data, the specialist vessel tracking and management launched in January 2016.
